Romania are rated 12th in the world by the FIFA

On paper the weakest team of the Group C which has for a long time been said to be the Group of Death. Nevertheless, the Romanians must not be underestimated. They are a talented team as they showed in qualifying phase finisheingtop of the group ahead of Netherlands.

Romania have always done well against teams which on paper stronger . Remember the Euro 2000 when Romania got out of another Group of Death of Portugal, Germany and England especially thanks to a resounding victory 3-2 against England!!

They rely on talented players such as Inter Milan’s Christian Chivu who is considered as one of the best central backs in the world and also scores goals. Then there is ex-Chelsea and now Fiorentina inspiration Adrian Mutu who has scored 17 goals in Serie A at a ratio of 0.6 goal per game. Coach Victor Piturca will also count on other experienced players such as former Ajax goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont or Getafe’s back Cosmin Contra who scored 2 goals against Bayern Munich in the quarter final of the UEFA Cup. They are 39/1 to win the competition but stranger things have happened.
